JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The debut of the inaugural season of the trailblazing Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏͼ¿â women's wrestling program has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Gothic Knights, under the direction of former World Champion and two-time United States Olympian is gearing up for an abbreviated yet historical 2020-21 season. On January 14, writer profiled the — the first and only collegiate women's wrestling program in the history of the state of New Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏͼ¿â and the first ever in the tri-state area — in NorthÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏͼ¿â.com and nationally in the USA Today/Gannett network of papers.

The story profiles Pirozhkova's development of the program, how it has overcome the limitations of the COVID pandemic, and how special the program is for its pioneering athletes, including local products (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) and (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central), who are each interviewed. The team is preparing for its limited competition, which will include the NCAA national qualifiers on February 20 and the NWCA/NCAA National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships on March 5-6 — both at Adrian University in Adrian, Michigan.
